Bighorn Experience 2005

Bighorn River, Montana
Dates: September 24th - 30th
Limited to 12 people

The Bighorn is a river of all things. From selective trout feeding on midges or trico spinners to sight nymphing to streamers for the "Big Grab" to black and tan caddis, it offers a full spectrum for us to enjoy. The past three years, we revisited the Bighorn after several years of high water flows and poor fall conditions. Well, we had super trips! Great dry fly fishing, great streamer fishing and some in portions of the river I had never fished.
The high water of the past years has "cleaned out" the lower sections of the river, basically adding about 20 miles of excellent fishing below the 13-mile access. This area has a bit lower fish population than the first 13 miles, but there was almost no angler traffic and plenty of good fish, including some brutes!
