I took classes in 1982 while living in walnut creek. They really gave me a good
foundation and I have been tying my own flies ever since - now in Vermont. I
look back on those hours in the shop in Walnut Creek as particularily memorable.

Andy's is a truly inovative fly tier, who always gives credit to other tiers.
You won't find him making a minor modification to someone else's pattern and
calling it his own. Andy inovations tend to be completely new styles of tying
such as his AP Nymph pattern, his Loop Wing style, and now his Poontoon Dun
cdc patterns. He's always improving on other patterns as well. His technique
for tying a Humpy is beautiful in it's symplicity and always results in a well
tied fly. The same can be said for his techniques for tying Sawyer's Pheasant
Tail Nymphs. Look for great articles here in the future.
