I met André
Puyans over twenty years ago as a fledgling student in one of his renowned
fly tying classes. At one point in the class, Andy queried each student
their level of fly fishing experience. When it came my turn, I smugly
answered “I’ve slung a little line.” Andy knew right
then and there that he had a problem child on his hands. After several
marathon fly tying sessions with Andy, I quickly realized how little I
really knew about fly fishing. Determined to make up for lost time and
learn all I could about fly fishing, that summer I enrolled in his seminar.
I have worked every one of Andy’s schools since and have never looked
back. And since that time, I have slung quite a bit of line, for all types
of fish, at various locations over the globe.
I live in Jackson Hole Wyoming with my wife and daughter and I am the
co-owner of High Country Flies. Living in the Yellowstone Area, I never
take for granted having one of the world’s most diverse trout fisheries
right in my backyard. The plain truth is: Trout live in the most beautiful
places. Simply observing the subtle rings left by a rising fish, rouses
the same emotion that I had when I first came to this sport. |
